i officially have some sort of cold/congestion/sinus issue. it sort of crept up on me, and today is the worst so far. i've been trying (to no avail) to cure it the old-fashioned way for the last few days, and today i gave up and bought the entire over-the-counter cold medicine line at econo. so far, dayquil multi-symptom cold/sinus relief and tylenol severe cold/congestion are not doing their job. ugh.
i don't understand how people made it through back in the "olden days" when there weren't any medicines. not that modern medicine is working very well for me right now, but i'm better than i was with just fluids and rest.
i'm also one of those people who refuses to go to the doctor unless absolutely necessary, so hopefully this passes before i'm forced to go in and get my nasal passages swabbed with a giant q-tip. i'll just remark that the last time i had to do that was sophomore year when i had a major sinus infection that lasted three weeks, and i hit the nurse in the process. it was just sort of a instant reflex - she shoved the stick up my nose and it hurt like hell and so i swatted her hand away - but in the process, i made my nose bleed. great times.
why is it that i have absolutely no problems getting shots, going to the dentist, giving blood, even getting a tattoo for god's sake, but the minute my sinuses or any place within the nasal region has an issue i freak out? maybe it comes from years of seasonal allergies (that i have since outgrown) and the fact that since absolutely nothing over-the-counter OR prescribed worked for me. i just had to suffer through them. let me tell you, life was shitty during the months of april, may, september, and october. thank god i don't have those anymore.
this is kinda gross. time to pop a nyquil and take my giant box of kleenex to bed with me. and i have to get up and drive home for mother's day tomorrow.
