ok computer

i love anything apple-related, and i am fully aware of my macbook protection obsession.  there are times when i fall asleep with my computer next to me in bed.  

anyway, i read this on ari herstand's facebook page, it's from steve jobs:

"I was very lucky to grow up in a time when music really mattered.  It wasn't just something in the background; it really mattered to a generation of kids growing up.  It really changed the world.  I think that music faded in importance for a while, and the iPod has helped to bring music back into people's lives in a really meaningful way.  Music is so deep within all of us, but it's easy to go for a day or a week or a month or a year without really listening to music.  And the iPod has changed that for tens of millions of people, and that makes me really happy, because I think music is good for the soul."

yes, i realize he's bragging about his 'baby' - but why shouldn't he?  the bigger picture here is that the entire music industry was forever changed when the ipod craze happened.  let's see, what was that other music player i used to use?  with those things they called, what, tapes?  they were called tapes, right?  oh and then when we all graduated to cd players, and that bulky, heavy "discman"... man, those were the days.  right.  ::sigh:: i love my ipod.  i don't know what i'd do without it.
