make a KILLING off of ringtones and other content.
my phone currently holds the following ringtones in the music folder, used not particularly in this order:
"good morning beautiful day" - keith urban my current tone

"rockstar" - hannah montana
"rockin' around the christmas tree" - hannah montana
"breaking free" - high school musical
"catch your wave" - the click five
"in the club" - 50 cent my text message tone - 3 seconds of "go, go, go, go"

"ladies choice" - zac efron as link larkin, hairspray
"lip gloss" - lil mama
"suspension" - mae
"love makes the world go round" - ashlee simpson
"one in a million" - hannah montana
you might be surprised to find out that i have paid for absolutely none of these. it's all thanks to www.myxertones.com - a site where you can upload your own songs and choose what part of the song you want as a ringtone. the length of the clip can be up to 30 seconds long, though shorter ones work better....i average about a 20-second tone. you can also share your uploads with others and use theirs. it's FREE. all you have to do is sign up/register your phone, which only requires your phone number and email address. i have never received an email from them with the exception of the confirmation.
they didn't ask me to post this. i just think the whole paying upwards of $3 for a 6-second clip is completely ridiculous. the word should be spread.
