we've got the sunblock, a blanket, and the best of Jimmy Buffet

while babysitting yesterday, i didn't feel like coming up with some form of entertainment, and since it was so nice out i told the kids we were spending the afternoon in the pool. i said they could invite friends, they declined. instead, i timed them for swimming relay races, counted how many somersaults they could do underwater, and led a "diving board trick" contest. meanwhile, their labradoodle Sadie played with my puppies in the yard. we eventually made the dogs swim for awhile - now that was interesting.

my two favorite neighbor kids!

chilly and sadie wrestling with a plastic plate that we won't be using anymore...

it's just been a week full of sun and water. i spent the entire day today out on lake minnetonka with my roommates. there was one, yes one cloud in the entire sky. hardly anyone was out on the water, so we pretty much had most of the lake (a huuuuge lake, mind you) to ourselves, minus a few fishermen on a motorized raft. the halter tan lines i got from the cabin weekend (you cannot wear a bandeau when you're tubing and wakeboarding, duh) went away today, so i should be set for sunday.

after we docked and everyone was good and burnt (except me, ha), we headed into uptown to meet friends for dinner. i'd like to extend a large internet thank-you to Annette, our server, who had no help from the other servers and runners, who managed to pull off 23 drink/salad/entree orders with ZERO mistakes. ZERO. she was brilliant...and she definitely made bank off our tips.

and now i am exhausted. and jealous that mike is sitting in front of JOHN HANSON at the twins game.
