"you have four years to be irresponsible here. relax. work is for people with jobs. you'll never remember class time, but you'll remember time you wasted hanging out with your friends. so stay out late. go out on a tuesday with your friends when you have a paper due wednesday. spend money you don't have. drink 'til sunrise. the work never ends, but college does."
tom petty's well-known blurb about college has been religiously followed this semester by none other than yours truly. i realized today that i haven't really been in school since march 13, which was 19 days ago. i blew off 9 days for the mexico trip, and then came home on the first day of my official spring break. then i was planning on staying home the monday that classes started up again (3/31) because i had interviews all day yesterday in the cities and then could just come back to school following those. instead, i thought i'd be a good student and go back to classes on time, except we got a highly unexpected blizzard and i ended up blowing off the rest of my classes that day to get on the road early. i was back on campus for a total of 14 hours before i left again, including my sleeping time.
all of this combined with my absences for the job fair, strep and bronchitis, and other interviews makes a total of 19 days of missed class this semester. when i think about it, i only ever had one assignment due on a day i missed, and i turned it in early before i knew i'd be missing that day.
midterm grades are coming out soon. from what i can tell based on assignments and tests, i have about the following:
psych A-
comm./gender A-/B+
tennis Pass
market research A
internship Pass
i am a slacker senior who just officially proved that yes, it CAN be done. GO ME!
